United Airlines Computer Glitch Strands Thousands (PHOTOS)

A United Airlines "network connectivity" problem created widespread cancellations on Friday night that has now affected thousands for the weekend.

Flights resumed on Saturday, but the airline said delays could persist throughout the weekend.

Airline analyst Robert Mann told the Associated Press: "There's literally nowhere to put them. There are already very few empty seats on the flights that operate."

The outage started about 7:15 p.m. Central time on Friday and lasted for about five hours. Lines grew at airports in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver and Chicago. Many of those stranded ended up spending the night in the airport.

Herewith are a collection of photographs from around the nation on Friday and Saturday.
