Singapore's international visitor arrivals grew 16.2% to reach 1,055,000 in January 2011.
That is the highest ever recorded number of visitor arrivals for the month of January. Visitor days were estimated at 4.1 million days, a year-on-year growth of 13.3%. (see Singapore Visitor Arrivals in January 2010)
Indonesia (208,000), P.R. China (132,000), Australia (98,000), Malaysia (78,000), and India (63,000) were Singapore's top five visitor-generating markets in January 2011. These markets accounted for 55% of total visitor arrivals for the month.
In January 2011, Hong Kong SAR (+51%), Thailand (+34.9%), and P.R. China (+33.4%) registered highest growth out of the top 15 markets.
Gazetted hotel room revenue was estimated at Sin$176 million, an increase of 25.8% compared to a year ago.
Average Occupancy posted a 1 percentage point increase over January 2010 to reach 82% in January 2011 while ARR increased by 18.3% over January 2010 to reach an estimate of Sin$224 in January 2011. RevPAR increased by 19.8% to reach Sin$183 in January 2011.
