At least it wasn't alive. Passengers on a US Airways flight got quite the surprise Thursday when a dead scorpion was found on their airplane.

The scorpion was discovered as the plane was pulling away from its gate at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in North Carolina.

It seems like critters are causing quite a problem these days, as rat droppings "too numerous to count" were just discovered on a Delta aircraft.

Passengers on the flight, which originated in Houston, Texas, transferred planes and continued to their destination of Newark, New Jersey, NBC News reports.

The aircraft is being fumigated and will return to service.
