Hotel Cascade in Lagos, Portugal has officially opened its doors in the presence of several distinguished guests, including some local dignitaries, sporting personalities, friends and members of the press.

On June 28, the Cascade Hotel was officially inaugurated. All the guests that attended this event, enjoyed first-hand the special atmosphere that can be felt in the Cascade Hotel, on the peninsula Ponta da Piedade, and experienced a little of the ?Cascade Lifestyle?.

Swiss Hotelier Urs Wild, Director of Cascade Resort, together with Dr. Julio Barroso ? President of the Lagos Municipal Council and the Swiss Ambassador in Portugal, Dr. Rudolf Schaller unveiled the inauguration plaque. Former Swedish champion tennis player Stefan Edberg was also in attendance due to his involvement with the Cascade Sports Academies.

Mr. Wild spoke falling in love with Lagos some 20 years ago and of his dream to build an exceptional hotel and Resort. Some12 years and 100 million Euros later, that dream became a reality, but not without overcoming the many obstacles that were met along the way. He is confident of the success of this new venture and of the positive effect it will have to the reputation and attraction to the Lagos area. This was the view shared by the Mayor who stressed the benefit of the development to the local area socially and economically and in terms of the maintenance of public space and environmental preservation.

Lisbon based Swiss Ambassador, Rudolf Schaller promised to bring the existence of Cascade to the attention of the newly inaugurated government of Portugal, especially the minister of tourism as an example of the excellence that has been achieved with this development. Stefan Edberg highlighted the individuality of the project with its emphasis on brilliance in sport.

Cascade Resort occupies a prime location of about 1.5 km of ocean frontage between Porto de Mos and Ponta da Piedade, a beautiful area, with stunning views, known for its unusual rock formations and sea caves. Just one of the reasons it is perfect for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and jogging and many more.

Since the soft opening in April, the hotel has received many guests of different nationalities that have appreciated the excellence in service and the inspirational surroundings. Cascade Hotel has 86 rooms, which portray a unique style in a design conceived to honor the historical importance of Lagos in the period of exploration and in sympathy with the environment. Here the interior decor reflects the culture and styles of the four continents of :Asia, Africa, South America and Europe, whilst the exterior combines Portuguese architecture with Moorish influences which complement the surrounding area, giving it a personality all of its own.

The Resort stretches over about 38 hectares, where in addition to the 5-star Hotel, the project also includes 58 apartments divided into 1 and 2 bedrooms and luxury villas ? which have been open since 2010. These are available for rent or purchase with a variety of different options.

Cascade Resort also features the "Cascade Performance Sports Academies" - high-performance sports academies run by renowned personalities from the world of professional international sport such as Sven-Goran Eriksson, Stefan Edberg and Julia Gorges. Also included in the Resort is a commercial area called the Praceta, a medical centre, gym, health club and a spa - covering 1,200 m2 located on the ground floor of the Hotel. At Cascade Resort, the opportunities for luxury and well-being are unlimited with the intention and promise of providing a unique and memorable experience.
