RWS Holds Topping-Out Ceremony for Fifth Hotel

Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore?s first integrated resort and home to the region?s only Universal Studios theme park, held a topping-out ceremony for its fifth hotel late last week.

Led by Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman of the Genting Group and RWS, and witnessed by executives from contractors Sembawang Engineers & Constructors Pte Ltd, partners DP Architects Ptd Ltd, DP Consultants Pte Ltd as well as top executives of RWS, the topping- out ceremony for Equarius Hotel marks the structural completion of the lush hotel in the resort?s West Zone.

As one of the two new hotels in the West Zone, Equarius Hotel lies within an� heavily forested area, specifically conserved by RWS.

Nestled against the hilly terrain of Mount Imbiah, with its beautiful nature trails and heritage trees, the five-star Equarius Hotel will be an ideal getaway for nature lovers and families to immerse themselves in the natural environment of a rainforest.

Surrounded by lush landscaping, the seven-storey Equarius Hotel will offer 172 guestrooms; each at a spacious 50 square metres. The hotel?s unique architecture ? designed by DP Architects in collaboration with famed American architect Michael Graves ? comes with a tropical feel and is accentuated by the creative use of natural materials such as stone and wood.

�?This topping-up ceremony of Equarius Hotel is a momentous milestone for us, as it marks the structural completion of our first of two hotels in our phase two development and is yet another unique offering in the stable of hotels in RWS,? said RWS?s Chairman, Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay. ?Since our hotels welcomed its first guest on 20 January 2010, we have hosted over 15 million visitors at RWS, and we expect this number to increase significantly as we now prepare for the resort?s West Zone development.?

Expected to open in 2012, Equarius Hotel, designed to be linear in architecture, will enable guests able to enjoy spectacular views of the Marine Life Park, the resort?s water theme park and the forest reserve from the comforts of their rooms.
